BOU VC elected ACU Trustee Board member

Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr A B M Obaidul Islam has been elected as a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Trustee Board, under the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Professor Islam is the only representative from Bangladesh among the 21 members of the Trustee Board. On this achievement, David Holdsworth, Chief Executive of the UK Charity Commission, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Dr Islam. On 1 August, he was nominated as an ACU council member.

Established in 1913, the ACU is one of the oldest and most prestigious international organisations in the field of higher education. Currently, over 400 universities from the Commonwealth countries are its members. Representation in both the ACU Council and the Trustee Board marks a historic recognition for BOU and Bangladesh's higher education sector, said a press release.
