BR likely to carry 75,000 passengers during Eid

Bangladesh Railway (BR) is expecting to carry over 75,000 passengers, including 50,000 with seating arrangement, each day for three days before and after the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha expected on December 9.
The BR started advance sale of tickets from Tuesday and it would continue until December 1.
Railway sources said besides 66 intercity trains regularly plying across the country with capacity to carry 43,000 seating passengers, the BR would operate seven special trains from December 6.
Besides, the railway authorities would allow over 50 per cent standing passengers.
Advance tickets are being sold between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Tickets for journeys on December 2 were sold out Tuesday while tickets for journeys for December 3 will be sold today (Wednesday), for December 4 on November 27, for December 5 on November 28, for December 6 on November 29, for December 7 on November 30 and for December 8 on December 1.
Besides Kamalapur, tickets will also be sold at Dhaka Airport, Joydevpur, Chittagong and Sylhet stations.
Nripendra Saha, Kamalapur Station Master said the demand for special and advanced tickets would be higher before and after three days of the Eid festival.
Mohammad Miah Jahan, divisional commercial officer (DCO) of BR, said a special train will be operated on Dhaka-Rajshahi route, one on Dhaka-Mymensingh route, one on Dhaka-Dewanganj route, one on Joydevpur-Ishwarganj route, two on Chittagong-Chandpur route and another on Chittagong-Comilla route.
