BRAC U celebrates Abed Bhai's Life and Legacy

BRAC University hosted a daylong programme on its campus in the city on Monday, commemorating the contributions of its founder, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, on the occasion of his 90th birth anniversary, according to a statement.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar also formally launched the university's 25th anniversary celebrations by unveiling the Silver Jubilee logo. BRAC University was established on 16 June 2001.
The events aimed to honour Sir Abed's enduring legacy and values, which continue to inspire generations to build a more just, inclusive, and compassionate society.
Titled "Celebration of Abed Bhai's Life and Legacy," the programme began in the morning with a photo exhibition showcasing the founder's contributions to advancing social development in Bangladesh and beyond.
Simultaneously, the Sir Fazle Hasan Abed Open Rated Chess Tournament 2026 featured the participation of over 300 players from across the country, paying tribute to his lifelong commitment to nurturing human potential.
The programme concluded with the distribution of awards for the football tournament by Board of Trustees Chairperson Tamara Hasan Abed and Member Salahdin Irshad Imam, along with Vice-Chancellor Syed Ferhat Anwar, Treasurer Ariful Islam, and Registrar Dave Dowland.
