Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) is set to introduce an online appointment service for outpatients from March 1 to lessen suffering of patients and improve medical services, reports BSS.
Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Shahinul Alam made the announcement at a preparatory meeting with doctors, officers, and employees of the outpatient department at the university's A Block Auditorium on Tuesday.
He said the outpatient department plays a crucial role in healthcare services, and introduction of an online appointment system has become essential to enhance patients' care, ensure better facilities, and streamline academic and research activities.
The vice-chancellor noted that online appointments will enable efficient patient data storage, benefiting both medical services and research.
He added, "With full automation of outpatient and inpatient departments, all medical records can be stored."
