Lauding the roles played by nurses in providing health services, Vice Chancellor (VC) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan urged them Monday to be more caring towards the patients, reports BSS.

"Contribution of nurses in curing patients is not less than physicians, rather in many cases their role is more important. Simple gestures, like helping them to take medicines, talking to them with smile, wanting to know their wellbeing, can make the patients feel much better. Nurses should remember the fact that they are the most near ones of the patients," Professor Khan said.

He came with the observations while inaugurating a training workshop "Medical Ethics for Nursing Profession for Patient Care at BSMMU" for the nurses.
