BARISAL, Oct 10 (UNB): Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) realised Tk 0.183 million (Tk 1.83 lakh) in fine and filed 36 cases in September in the division for various reasons including sale of adulterated and substandard food.
BSTI conducted 12 drives and operated nine mobile courts during this period.
Shawkat Osman, deputy director of Barisal BSTI office said the drives were conducted in the city and Sadar Upazila of Barisal, Baufal Upazila of Patuakhali, Bhadraria and Kaukhali upazilas of Pirojpur district.
The actions were taken for selling adulterated and sub-standard food items, cheating customers by using unapproved equipment in measuring weight of different commodities.
