The telecom regulator has launched test run of automated and completely online licence issuance process and management system on Thursday for its licensees to ease licensing.
The Bangladesh Tele-communication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) appo-inted Business Automation Limited in last September to build the system.
Earlier, Shoeb Ahmed Masud, director of the company, said they got the work to build the system for the BTRC at Tk 2.0 million. The contract has been signed for three years primarily. It might be renewed after expiry of the duration.
The Online Licence Issuance and Management System (LIMS) will provide completely zero visit, faster and cost-effective licence issuance and management system.
Once implemented, time, cost, and visit (TCV) to obtain licence will reduce for the applicants. It will also help to provide quality services to the citizens as well as increase the government's revenue in the field of telecommunications.
According to the BTRC official document, the system will be applicable to those types of services for which the applicants need licence/certificate - whenever they apply with proper documents along with fees or charges. It said an applicant for a licence can complete the application process online by creating an account for his or her organisation and get the license with zero visit to the BTRC office.
The application will be processed through the LIMS, which will be integrated with the e-Nothi system for further processing.
The applicants will be able to deposit various licence-related fees into the BTRC's account through online payment method.
They will be able to check the status of their application through the system's dashboard and receive notifications on important steps via SMS and e-mail.
An e-licence (preferably QR code) will be finally awarded to the selected applicants after completing all approval process. After receiving the e-licence, all licence-related activities will be done through the company's dashboard.
