The students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) have taken an oath on Tuesday for not involving in any kind of organizational student politics on the campus. The oath was taken in front of BUET cafeteria around 1:30pm.

The students said in the oath, "We promise that we will collectively prevent any kind of terrorism and communal violence on BUET campus. We will root out all forms of discriminatory subcultures and abuses of power with morality."

After the oath, BUET students said in a press conference that on July 30, 34 students, including 24 students of BUET, were arrested on the suspicion of plotting sabotage at Tanguar Haor in Sunamganj. Later, they were granted bail.

"We have requested the authority to make a probe and take immediate steps if they are found guilty," they said.

"We expressed our strong position against the return of Ashikul Islam Bitu who was found guilty by BUET authority for ragging and uncooperative manner during Abrar Fahad's murder investigation. We will not share classes with such a notorious person and if BUET authorities do not take any steps quickly, we will not think twice to boycott classes," they said.
