BUET suspends eight students over ragging

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) authorities have suspended eight students from the university on different terms for their involvement in various incidents of ragging.

They were also expelled from Titumir Hall for their involvement in ragging in a previous incident at the university's Titumir Hall.

Besides, six other students were suspended from the hall on different periods on the same issue.

The Board of Residence and Discipline of the university took the decision based on an investigation report submitted by the respective committees, said a press release on Thursday.

The authorities also warned the six students and another student so that such incident does not repeat in future.

Earlier, on November 22, the authorities expelled its 26 students permanently in the connection of Abrar Fahad murder case.

On November 27, BUET also expelled 26 students on different terms where nine of them are permanently expelled from their respective halls over ragging allegations.

Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department, was beaten to death allegedly by some Chhatra League leaders at the university's Sher-e-Bangla Hall sometime between 8:30pm on October 06 and 2:30am on October 07.
