Buri Teesta Irrigation project facing problems

NILPHAMARI, Mar 20: Buri Teesta Irrigation project, the pioneer irrigation project in the northern region on Buri Teesta river, a tributary of the main Teesta River in Jaldhaka Upazila in Nilphamari district is beset with multiple problems hampering proper functioning.
The construction of the barrage was completed in 1967 and its infrastructures were completed in 1983.
The project envisaged irrigation of 11,000 hectares of land. But sources said 136 hectares of land has been selected to be provided with irrigation facilities this year.
