Bus driver beaten to death in city

A driver of a Dhaka-Sylhet route bus was reportedly beaten to death by the passengers in Jatrabari area of the city on Monday night, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Haribol Chandra Dey, hailing for Boyda Nagar of Jafllong in Sylhet district.

Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said some angry passengers of a Sylhet-bound bus of 'Shyamoli Paribahan' beat Haribol, the driver of the bus, indiscriminately as he was allegedly picking up extra passengers at Janapath Mor in Jatrabari on Monday night, leaving him unconscious. Later, he was rushed to the hospital by bus helper Shamim around 11:30pm where doctors declared him dead. DMCH police camp in-charge Mozammel Haque confirmed the incident and said helper Shamim was detained for interrogation in this connection.
