Bus strike withdrawn in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Mar 29: Movement of vehicles on 19 routes between Chittagong city and the southeastern districts of Cox's Bazar and Bandarban resumed at 3.00 pm today following withdrawal of indefinite strike enforced by the bus operators after fruitful meeting with the administration.
The bus association leaders said that the strike had been withdrawn immediately after negotiations with Md Saifullah, additional divisional commissioner (general) of Chittagong at his office.
"He has assured us that the administration will take security measures for the bus operators of different inter-district coaches, buses and other vehicles plying in the routes," president of the bus owners and workers association Abul Kalam Azad told the FE.
He said that Mujibar Rahman, a leader of Awami League Cox's Bazar district had demanded of Tk 0.5 million from the owner of Shah Amin Bus Service following an accident that had left a child dead in Ramu of Cox's Bazar on Thursday last.
Thousands of people, especially the tourists from different parts of the country were stranded in the tourist districts of Cox's Bazar and Bandarban for three days from Saturday due to indefinite bus strike.
