C’wealth Open Schools Assoc meeting held

The annual general meeting of Commonwealth Open Schools Association in co-operation with Bangladesh Open University in progress at La-Vinch hotel in the city Tuesday.

A four-day annual general meeting of Commonwealth Open Schools Association in co-operation with Bangladesh Open University began at La-Vinch hotel in the city Tuesday.

The aim of the meeting is to develop dropout learners' educational quality in the Commonwealth countries. Education Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Khan was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

The secretary said welfare and development can be enhanced in the society by creating the facility in education sector with open schooling for the dropout students to enroll themselves in the system.

Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Dr MA Mannan welcomed the commonwealth delegates in the country. Delegates from New Zealand, Namiba, Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Seychelles, Vanuatu, Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Lesotho, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan took part in the meeting, says a press release.
