A post on X (formerly Twitter) by Times Algebra account claiming the Bangladesh government bans entries of Hindus in public jobs is completely false, chief adviser's press wing said, report agencies.
"The claim made in this post on X is completely false," the press wing said in a statement posted on its verified Facebook account - CA Press Wing Facts - on Thursday.
It said the Bangladesh government does not discriminate against any citizen based on religion.
"The quote of the Home Affairs adviser mentioned in the post is also false," the statement read.
Meanwhile, fact checking body Rumor Scanner called false a video circulated on social media claiming that a Hindu child is being tortured by police in Bangladesh.
The fact checking watchdog said the video of a child losing consciousness in heat of teargas fired to control the clash between Dhaka College and City College students with some police members and people present nearby trying to revive him is being propagated as police torturing of a Hindu child.
In a report published on its website on Monday, it said recently a video was circulated on social media platforms Instagram and YouTube, where there is a scene that a policeman is taking away a child from a woman's lap in a try to give him warmth from flame of fire.
The video was falsely circulated claiming that it was a scene of torturing of a Hindu child by the police.
On the other hand, Rumor Scanner dubbed misleading the viral photo of a cow slaughtering claiming it of interim government period, saying the photo is not new rather it is from 2023 of Awami League regime.
In a report published on its website on Wednesday, the fact checking watchdog said the scene of a dead cow is not from the current government, but from the time of 2023 during Awami League government period.
It said recently a picture of a dead cow was circulated on social media with the caption "Dr. Yunus is a name of criminal, he is not only killing people but also brutally torturing and killing animals."
The Rumour Scanner Team in an investigation found that the incident and the picture of the cow killing were not recent, but rather an old picture from 2023. But, those are being circulated claiming the new incident criticising the current interim government.
Rumor Scanner also dubbed false a video circulated on social media claiming that a Hindu woman is being beaten in Bangladesh.
