Call to ensure rights of aboriginal people to land

NABABGANJ, Aug 5 (BSS): Speakers including aboriginal community leaders here in a discussion meeting asked the government for ensuring rights of the aboriginal people to land and forming an Aboriginal Welfare Trust.
The speakers said this while speaking at the meeting organised by Coalition of Local NGOs in Bangladesh (CLNB) at Nababganj Press Club in Nababganj Upazila of Dinajpur district on the occasion of International Aboriginal Day.
Chaired by noted social worker Musfiqur Rahman, the meeting was attended, among others, by president of Nababganj Upazila unit of Aboriginal Network Samity James Murmu, chairman of the central committee of CLNB Harunur Rashid, CLNB central committee Executive Chairman Syed Saidur Rahman, aboriginal community leaders Sanjoy Roy, Noreen Mardy, UP member Bimal Sarker, Binoy Paul and Hopna Mardy.
They stressed the need for increasing assistance to the socially backward aboriginal community people throughout the country for ensuring their equal rights and participations in the development and society building activities.
