Call to plant more trees to build green Bangladesh

SYLHET, June 27 (BSS): All concerned have been urged to plant more trees to build a green Bangladesh.

General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 17th Infantry Division of Jalalabad Cantonment Maj Gen Muhammad Humayun Kabir made the appeal while inaugurating a tree plantation programme at 'Bir Tila' here Thursday.

Gen Kabir said there is no alternative to plant saplings to build a beautiful and habitable world for the next generation and green Bangladesh would maintain an ecological balance.

He also urged all to come forward to plant different kinds of saplings for maintaining ecological balance as well as protecting bio-diversity of the country.

He hoped that a large number of people of Sylhet should follow this plantation programme and plant fruit- bearing, timber and medicinal saplings for the sake of increasing fruit production in the country and to protect environment from the catastrophe of climate change.
