Cash, rice allocated to flood-hit people

An amount of Tk 30 million in cash and some 8,000 tonnes of rice have been allocated as general relief for the flood-affected people across the country, said Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Mesbaul Alam Sunday, reports UNB.

Talking to reporters before attending a meeting with divisional commissioners on the flood situation, the disaster management and relief secretary said the relief materials have already been sent to the administrations of the districts hit hard by the flood, and the deputy commissioners concerned are taking care of the distribution.

Floods and river erosions, triggered by incessant rains, were reported from 12 districts, Mesbaul Alam said adding that the ministry has adequate relief at its disposal to tackle any exigency.
