CHATTOGRAM, Nov 19: Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) has taken up a septic tank management project for cleaning the city's household septic tanks.
To expedite the sanitation system the City Corporation received a modern vacuum tanker from the international donor organisation Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP).
On the occasion, an agreement was signed between the CCC and the WSUP on Sunday at the CCC auditorium.
Chief Executive Officer of the City Corporation Md Shamsuddoha and Country Programme Manager of WSUP Bangladesh Abdus Shaheen signed the deal.
Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation AJM Nasiruddin, panel mayors Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud Hasni and Zobaida Nargis Khan, secretary Md Abul Hossain, chief engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed, chief education officer Sumon Barua, ward councilors, WSUP sanitation leader Habibur Rahman, programme manager Ayub Khan and business development officer Manjur Morshed, among others, were present at the event chaired by the CCC CEO.
Later, the CCC handed over a lease to Mrs Forak Ahmed and Sons to operate the sanitation system for the next years.
