CHITTAGONG, Nov 4 : Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) has begun the development work of the 1.81-km Sirajuddowla Road in the port-city after two years of delay.
Presently, the development work is being simultaneously carried out by 20 firms for prompt execution, and it is expected to be finished by December next.
According to the concerned sources, estimated expenditure of the project is Tk 243.4 million, while a total of Tk 176 million has been allocated for acquisition of land from over 500 families.
Earlier, delay in beginning the work caused enormous sufferings to the pedestrians and vehicles plying on the road. Besides, acute traffic congestion was a regular phenomenon in the area for long.
Sources said, despite obtaining approval of the ministry, the development work of Sirajudddowla Road had been stagnant for so long due to sheer negligence of the Planning Commission.
