CHITTAGONG, May 6 (BSS): Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) ordered Tuesday over 50 building owners of Mehedibagh to demolish the unauthorised structures on both sides of Mehedibagh road in the port city within next 15 days.
The buildings were constructed at least a decade ago defying the CDA master plan, CDA sources said.
A special team of CDA, led by its chief city planner engineer Shahinul Islam Khan and authorised officer Mohammad Shamim gave the order to undertake the demolitions.
CDA sources said the high-rise concrete structures were built occupying roadside government land which lead to severe traffic jam in the city.
CDA has undertaken a project to expand the 1.5 kilometre long road from Kazir Dewri to Mehedibagh to Goolpahar at a cost of Tk 400 million.
