CHITTAGONG, July 05: Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) is preparing to file cases against 23 persons and organisations separately on charge of cutting hills in the port city.
Besides, the Department of Environment (DoE), Chittagong, has prepared a primary list of over 50 persons and organisations held liable for cutting hills in Chittagong, concerned sources said.
According to the CDA sources, the CDA has formed two task forces for identifying those who are allegedly involved in cutting hills. It may be mentioned that the CDA earlier had filed 56 cases in connection with cutting hills in the city.
On the other hand, the DoE sources said the number of cases previously filed by the department could not stand due to different lapses. It is learnt that the DoE has also undertaken different steps for removing those complications. Besides, a draft with recommendations has been sent to the concerned ministry for consideration, sources added.
