CDA starts removing unauthorised portion

CHITTAGIONG, July 16: Owners of the buildings erected on both sides of the Asian Highway who had been served with the notices by Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) have already started removing the unauthorised constructions of their establishments voluntarily.
The unapproved portion of the Zaman Hotel located at the GEC crossing, has already been removed while the task of breaking unapproved portion of Lalkhan Bazar Highway Plaza, Central Plaza and Shopping centres at GEC crossing and Rahima Centre of the CDA Avenue in the city, has also begun.
On the other hand, owners of over one hundred shops and offices located at Sholashahar Station adjoining area as well as vast area on two sides of road from Lalkhan Bazar to Agrabad in the city, have engaged themselves in removing unapproved portion of their establishments.
According to the CDA sources, CDA set a deadline upto July 25 through holding meeting and issuance of notices to the owners of the buildings of the stated nature. If anybody failed to comply with the directive, it was resolved to conduct eviction campaign.
CDA sources further said, the authority has put markings in the concerned buildings and establishments so that the task of removing the unauthorised portion could be done cautiously.
