Centre exams at class eight likely

The Ministry of Education is likely to introduce centre examinations at class eight in November next to ensure quality education for all, a ministry source said here Wednesday, reports BSS.
Like last year's primary centre exams, it will be held in the form of public examinations where about 1.5 million students of class eight will participate.
It was discussed at a high level meeting held in the Ministry of Education Wednesday and a committee has been formed to implement the examination plan, the source said.
Its aim is to remove exam phobia from students' mind, reduce drop out, create eagerness to studies and make conscious the guardians and teachers about improvement of their children and students.
The Education Boards will set uniform questions for all students of the country, evaluate answer papers and publish results accordingly.
The successful students will be provided with certificates.
Under the new system, there will be no separate scholarship examinations in class eight. The students who will qualify themselves in the exams will be eligible for stipend. Number of scholarships will also be increased, the source added.
