CHATTOGRAM, July 03 (UNB): Due to torrential rain for the last two days, many places in the city and its adjoining areas went under knee-deep water, causing immense sufferings to the residents.

Many areas of the port city, including Bakolia, Agrabad, Halisshahar, Bahaddarhat and Chwakbazar have been flooded.

People who went out for work had to struggle a lot to reach their destinations.

Abdul Hannan, assistant meteorologist at Patenga Met office, said the rainfall will likely to continue for two to three more days due to the monsoon and rain accompanied by thundershowers will likely to occur.

The Met office recorded 252 mm rainfall until 12:00 noon in the city, he said.

Besides, the vehicular movement on Chattogram-Rangamati road remained suspended from Tuesday morning as the road went under water in Raozan following heavy rainfall and onrush of water from the upstream, said Abdul Karim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Raozan Highway thana.
