Chhatra Union Parishad announced its panel for the upcoming Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RUCSU) election under the banner "Aporajeyo '71, Oprotiruddho '24."
The announcement was made at a press conference at the university on Tuesday afternoon.
Masud Kibria, president of the Chhatra Union and a student of the Theatre department (session 2018-19), will contest for vice president (VP), and Parama Paramita, general secretary of the organisation and a student of Fine Arts from the same session, for general secretary (GS).
Sanjida, from the Fine Arts department (2019-20 session), will contest for assistant general secretary (AGS).
Other candidates include: Cultural Secretary Muktadir Karim Kuasha (Fine Arts, 2017-18, Bijoy '24 Hall), Assistant Cultural Secretary Mehedi Hasan (Library Management, 2022-23), Environment & Welfare Secretary Abu Raihan Jony (Fine Arts, 2019-20), Assistant Environment Secretary Bijoy Marti (Fine Arts), Executive Member-1 Shahin Shikder (Anthropology).
Speaking at the press conference, VP candidate Masud Kibria said, "The RUCSU election is supposed to be held through a proper process, yet the administration has not engaged in any dialogue with student organisations. The vice-chancellor had promised on August 5 that elections would be ensured within five months, but the schedule was postponed six times, keeping the polls uncertain for long. Finally, a clear roadmap has now been set, and we are ready to participate."
