Children-friendly reporting stressed

Speakers at a programme stressed on children-friendly reporting to create awareness among people about their rights.
They also expressed frustration saying many times journalists do not follow journalistic ethics while reporting on children issues.
They said this Tuesday at the concluding session of a two-day workshop for journalists on 'Children Protection', organised by World Vision Bangladesh, a non-government organisation and Press Institutes of Bangladesh (PIB) in the city.
While delivering his presidential address, Shah Alamgir, director general (DG) of PIB requested the media persons not to publish photos of victim women and children as it can hamper their daily life.
He also urged the concerned ministry to establish separate department for children affair like that of women department so that the children issues could get priority.
Tariq-ul-Islam, secretary to the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs said the government is working for preventing child labour and child marriage.
Stephen Halder, group director of World Vision Bangladesh, among others was present at the programme.
