CHITTAGONG, Mar 13: China Foreign Trade Centre's (FTC) International Communication Department general manager (GM) Alan Liu met Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) president Mahbubul Alam at the CCCI World Trade Centre (WTC) office on Thursday.
The CCCI president said Chittagong being located between the SAARC and the ASEAN regions and having the country's prime seaport is a lucrative place of investment for local and foreign entrepreneurs.
He also said Chittagong will be directly connected with Kunming, China once the proposed BCIM corridor is constructed. It will play a pioneering role in bilateral trade between the countries.
Bangladesh government has planned to offer a specialized industrial zone for the Chinese investors. China is considered as a superpower in global economy, and Bangladesh is emerging soon as a middle-income country. So business relation between the two countries is vital, he further added.
CCCI vice president Syed Jamal Ahmed informed the visiting Chinese officials about the facilities in WTC as well as the ongoing Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF).
Alan Liu emphasized strengthening existing relation as well as direct and technological communication between CCCI and China FTC for speedy trade growth.
He invited the CCCI members to attend the International Canto Fair, to be organized in China shortly.
Later the Chinese team visited CITF, and praised CCCI for arranging the fair.
