City receives moderate rain

Dhaka city witnessed moderate rain, with the Met office recording 23mm of rainfall until 6:00pm on Wednesday.

On the other hand, the mercury inched up. The maximum temperature recorded in the city on the day was 34.1 degrees Celsius, as against 33 degrees the previous day.

The rate of humidity was also high -- 96 per cent, according to the Met office.

Wednesday's highest temperature (36 degrees Celsius) in the country was recorded in Bagura and Tarash.

The Met office forecast that rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions today (Thursday).

The sun sets in Dhaka at 05:32pm today (Thursday) and will rise at 05:56am tomorrow (Friday).
