City road crashes claim two lives

Two persons were killed in separate accidents in the city on Friday, reports BSS.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained, Bachchu Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, said.

However, the police sources assumed the age of the deceased might be between 34 and 36.

Nusrat Jahan Nupur, Kamrangirchar thana sub-inspector, said he was crossing the road near Kamrangirchar Madbar Bazar Lohar Bridge around 6:45 am.

A pickup van rammed him in front of 'Suruchi' hotel in that area leaving him seriously injured, she said.

After taking him DMCH, the on-duty doctor declared him dead, she added.

The pickup van was seized after arresting the driver, she said, adding that police informed Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for proper investigation.

Meanwhile, a youth was killed as a speedy train, which was going to airport road station from Kamlapur station, hit him in Tejgaon Nakhalpara Pulpar area.

The victim was rushed to the DMCH where the duty-doctors declared him dead around 9:00 am, police sources said.

Bachchu Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, said the bodies have been kept in DMCH morgue for autopsy.
