City sees moderate rain

The city witnessed moderate rainfall on Saturday, leading to waterlogging in many places, which caused suffering to the working people throughout the day.

The Met Office recorded 23mm rainfall between 6:00am to 6:00pm on the day in the city with south-easterly wind of 12 kph to 16 kph.

Chattogram saw a rainfall of 102 mm, the highest in the country.

The maximum temperature in Dhaka city was 27.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 26.3 degrees.

On Saturday, the country's highest temperature of 33.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rajshahi and the lowest of 24.3 degrees in Sitakunda.

In Dhaka city, the intensity of rain was much higher in the morning, resulting in waterlogging in places, which led to heavy traffic congestions at various points.

Traffic jam was seen on Mirpur-New Market, Mirpur-12 to Shewrapara, Mohakhali-Moghbazar-Motijheel, Shahbagh-Gulistan-Sayedabad areas and other places.

The Met Office forecast that light to moderate rain might occur in most places over Rajshahi, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Dhaka divisions Saturday.

Many places in Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions might also witness rain, said a Met Office bulletin.

Both day and night temperature would remain almost unchanged during the period, said Met Office.

The sun sets in the city today (Sunday) at 6:25pm and will rise tomorrow (Monday) at 5:37am.
