The concluding ceremony of the two-day annual festival Civil Fest-2017, organised by the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of North South University (NSU), was held at its auditorium in the city on Tuesday, according to a press release.
Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader was present there as the chief guest while Azim Uddin Ahmed, chairman of board of trustees of NSU, was the guest of honour.
Members of the board of trustees of NSU Benajir Ahmed, MA Kashem, MA Hashem, Rehana Rahman, Yasmin Kamal and NSU treasurer Dr Gour Gobinda Goswami were present as the special guests at the programme. Prof Dr Atiqul Islam, vice-chancellor of NSU, presided over the function.
Mr Quader appreciated the management, students, young engineers and officials of the NSU for organising such a colourful event on an important issue.
The first programme of the Civil Fest (DAY 1), titled "BSRM-Round Table Discussion: Role of Civil Engineers towards Building a Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure System" of CIVIL FEST 2017 was moderated by Prof Md Mazharul Hoque, dean of Civil Engineering of BUET. The two-day programme included CAD competition, poster and project presentations, paper bridge display and science olympiad for the school and college students, etc.
