Clean Village-Clean Town to be launched on Mujib Year: Tajul

Seizing the opportunity of ensuring 'Mujib Year', the government will deftly focus on implementing a nationwide "Clean Village-Clean Town" programme, among others, to inspire all to keep them and their surroundings neat and build a clean Bangladesh, reports BSS.

This was stated on Wednesday by Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam.

The minister came up with the statement while addressing an inter-ministerial meeting on formulating a work plan for the implementation of 'Clean Village-Clean Town' programme in the conference room of the Local Government Department at the Secretariat here.

Tajul said 'Mujib Year' will begin across the country for the celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary from March 17, 2020.

As part of the celebration, the "Clean Village-Clean Town" programme will be launched under the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, adding that the Prime Minister will officially inaugurate the event in the beginning of the next year.

"Our aim is to make mass people habituated with the practice of keeping them neat and clean daily. A neat and clean landscape will be built under the Vision 2021 and 2041 from the grassroots level," he added.

Tajul said all city corporations, municipalities and upazilas of the country will start working primarily in small areas of their respective zones to make the programme a success.

Cleaning activities in educational institutions of the country will be strengthened in the days to come, he added.
