CNG filling stations to stay open 24 hrs during Eid holidays

The government has instructed all CNG (compressed natural gas) filling stations across the country to remain open round the clock during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays to ensure smooth vehicle movement.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division (EMRD) under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources issued the directive on Monday.

According to the order, all CNG filling stations will remain open 24 hours a day from May 21 to June 2, 2026.

The EMRD said the stations must stay operational during the seven days before Eid, throughout the holiday period, and for five days after Eid to facilitate uninterrupted transport services and ease travel pressure during the festive season.

Usually, CNG filling stations in Dhaka and other parts of the country remain closed daily from 6:00pm to 11:00pm to maintain stable gas pressure and balance supply among residential, industrial and commercial users.

However, the government has temporarily relaxed the restriction considering the increased demand for transport services during Eid travel.
