Coast Guard members displaying 0.11 million Yaba tablets worth Tk 55 million recovered from the Bay near Saint Martin’s Island on Saturday


COX'S BAZAR, Oct 10: The members of Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 0.11 million pieces of Yaba tablets worth Tk 55 million from the Bay near Saint Martin’s Island.
According to sources, on a tip-off that a consignment of Yaba tablets being smuggled from Myanmar into the country, a team of coast guard conducted a special drive in the Bay of Bengal near Saint Martin’s Island at around 4:30 pm on Saturday.
During the drive, they challenged an engine- driven boat. But the smugglers threw two jerricans in the sea water and fled the scene quickly.
Later, the coast guard team collected the jerricans from sea water and recovered 0.11 million pieces of Yaba tablets searching the jerricans.
When contacted, Assistant Director of BCG Lt Commander Abdullah Al Maruf confirmed the matter.
