Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized on Saturday 195 maunds of jatka (hilsa fry) worth over Tk 2.8 million from the Dulkhola area adjacent to the Meghna River in Barisal.

They also arrested nine persons in connection with catching jatka and seized a wooden boat.

Later, the seized hilsa fries were distributed among the destitute people and orphans in the presence of the executive magistrate and fisheries officials.

The south zone (Bhola) CG station handed over the arrested persons and wooden boat to the mobile court.

The arrested persons were fined Tk 5,000 each.
