Cold wave paralyses normal life in N-region

RANGPUR, Jan 13 (BSS): Severity of the sweeping cold wave worsened following falls in the temperatures coupled with blowing stronger winds causing unbearable miseries and paralysing normal life in northern Bangladesh for the fourth consecutive day today.
The situation worsened further causing bone-chilling cold due to further sharp falls in the maximum and minimum temperatures reducing gaps between them to even only 2.5 degrees Celsius at places amid cloud -- covered sky and thin layers of fogs.
The situation became unbearable when the minimum temperatures ranged between 6.3 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius today and the maximum between 13.5 degrees Celsius and 16.6 degrees Celsius at most places in the region.
The Met Office today recorded the country's lowest temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius at Ishwardi and the same was recorded at 5 degrees Celsius at Srimangal yesterday. The minimum temperatures of 11 degrees Celsius were recorded today at Rangpur, 10.5 degrees Celsius at Dinajpur, 10.6 at Syedpur, 8 degrees Celsius at Bogra and 7 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi.
