Community police helping hands of police force

CHITTAGONG, Oct 28: A senior police official today called upon the members of the community policing to act as members of intelligence of the police.
Additional Inspector General of Police Md Zabed Patwari, also head of the Special Branch (SB), an intelligence unit of the Bangladesh Police, made the call while addressing as the chief a programme on the occasion of the Community Policing Day at Dampara Police Line in the city.
Mr Patwari said the community police members are helping hands of the uniformed police personnel and play important role in providing information about criminals, including drug peddlers.
In performing these activities each member of the community police is working as member of the police intelligence unit and helping in uprooting criminal activities from society.
Presided over by convenor of the Community Policing Chittagong city unit MA Malek, also editor of the Daily Azadi, the event was also addressed by commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Md Iqbal Bahar, additional commissioner Saleh Md Tanvir, panel mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud Hashni, female commissioner of the CCC Abida Azad and Ohid Siraj Chowdhury Swapan.
