Complete treasury bldg work carefully: PM

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina directed on Thursday the authorities concerned to complete the construction work of the 'government treasury' building being built in the capital keeping in mind the issue of moisture and risk of fire, reports UNB.
The PM gave the directive while witnessing a power-point presentation on the ongoing construction of the government treasury at her office in the city.
The treasury is being constructed near Novo theatre and Army Museum at Bijoy Sharani in the capital to preserve various gifts and mementos received by the President, Prime Minister and other VVIPs of the country.
After the programme, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters.
He said Army Chief of Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq delivered the welcome address highlighting various features of the treasury.
Ihsanul Karim said the PM expressed the satisfaction at the progress of works and gave some directives and suggestions regarding the treasury under construction and said it will be like a museum.
She said the treasury should be constructed in such a way that moisture could not cause any harm to the mementos and gifts, she said adding that necessary fire-extinguishing equipment must be ensured there.
Hasina said she first heard about the treasury from Bangabandhu in a family discussion and he had enacted a law in this regard.
About her experience on treasury, the PM said she visited such establishments in different countries, including Indonesia and Malaysia, and they were maintaining that in an excellent manner.
Later, the PM witnessed the design of canals being constructed on both sides of the 300 feet road at Purbachal.
During the time, Sheikh Hasina gave necessary directives to the authorities concerned.
LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Principal Secretary M Nojibur Rahman, PMO Senior Secretary Suraiya Begum and LGRD Secretary Shahidullah Khandaker were present.
