Confidence Steel sets milestone of constructing 1,000 telecom towers

Confidence Steel Limited (CSL), a subsidiary of the Confidence Group, has made a breakthrough in construction of telecommunication tower in the country, meeting its demand from the fast-growing mobile phone operators.
Since the start of its operation in early March of 2006, the company has delivered over 1400 steel towers to different mobile phone companies operating in Bangladesh.
The CSL organised Friday a function at a city hotel to mark the installation of 1,000 towers in Bangladesh.
Adviser in charge of ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock, and Forest and Environment CS Karim was present at the function as the chief guest while Chairman of the Confidence Steel M Shamsul Alam and directors of the company Rezaul Karim and Imran Karim also spoke on the occasion.
"We want to build a knowledge-based society and the telecommunication can pave the way for achieving such a goal," the Adviser said.
Rezaul Karim said using the state-of-the-art technology, the company is eying the export market after meeting the internal demand for world-quality telecom towers.
He also sought necessary supports from the government and other parastatals involved in power sector for the promotion of local electrical transmission tower, pole and portable steel bridge manufacturing industry.
He said: "It is unfortunate that electrical transmission towers are mostly imported whereas over 95 per cent of such towers are locally manufactured."
Speaking on the occasion, Imran Karim said the company has plans to export telecom towers to various countries, and also enhance its capacity for manufacturing steel-made piling towers, poles and tower foundation materials in the near future.
