FE REPORT
Construction of drainage systems and roads in 18 new DNCC wards including Natunbazar, Beraid, and Satarkul, will take until December to reach completion, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mahmudul Hasan said.
He expressed his optimism on the matter when he visited the areas on Saturday morning.
"Construction of many roads is nearing completion, and final stage of concrete work will begin within next week. We aim to complete the construction of all the roads by December," he said.
Heavy rainfall in September and October during the monsoon season this year adversely affected the usual pace of the construction works, he said.
The progress of the work will be increased to alleviate the suffering of the people in this area, according to a DNCC press release.
Taking part in a view exchange meeting, the DNCC chief listened to the problems of the local residents and provided instructions to the officials concerned to solve the problem fast.
Mahmudul Hasan also said the authorities took projects to construct roads and drainage systems in new areas.
"We are fully prepared. Yet, the cooperation of local people is needed for the construction of wider roads."
He urged the locals to refrain from creating obstacles during the projects, which would help the authorities to construct wider roads. "Ultimately, the people would be benefitted from it," he said.
Brig Gen Md Moin Uddin, DNCC chief engineer, Arifur Rahman, additional chief engineer, Nasima Khanom, regional chief executive officer, and Faruque Hassan Md. Al Masud, DNCC superintending engineer, were present on the occasion among others.
The new wards were added to the jurisdiction of the DNCC in 2017.
