Consultative meeting on disaster resilience held

A national consultative meeting of the European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Society (ECHO) has suggested further emphasis on resilience building and government's institutionalisation of disaster risk reduction (DRR) to improve disaster preparedness in Bangladesh.
The meeting was held in the city Tuesday.
The meeting reviewed the lessons learnt from the implementation of the seventh Disaster Preparedness ECHO (DIPECHO VII) cycle and made recommendations for DIPECHO VIII.
Key government, NGO and United Nations stakeholders, including DG of the Department of Disaster Management Mohammed Abdul Wazed attended the meeting.
