Contempt rule against DG education

July 10, 2014 00:00:00

The High Court (HC) issued Wednesday a contempt of court rule against Prof Fahima Khatun, Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, reports BSS.

A division bench of the HC comprising Justice M Moazzam Husain and Md Badruzzaman passed the rule returnable in three weeks asking why she will not be punished for contempt of court charges.  Barrister Toufiq Enam Tipu moved on behalf of the petitioner.

Talking to newsmen Barrister Toufiq alleged that governing body of Fazlul Haque Women's College appointed three teachers violating the law.

He also alleged that the names of the teachers were included in the MPO (monthly pay order) and were given money from the government exchequer in connivance with the then president of the college governing body and director general of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

Principal of the college Md Nazrul Islam filed a writ petition with the HC against the MPO inclusion.

Upon the petition, the HC on October 10 in 2013 asked the DG of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education not to give the teachers money from the public fund.

The DG filed a petition with Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) challenging legality of the HC order.
