Contract signed for establishing PSO under HNPSP

The final contract for establishing Programme Support Office (PSO) under the Health, Nutrition and Population Sector Pro-gramme (HNPSP) was signed Tuesday, aiming to accelerate activities under the mega-scheme in the country's healthcare sector, reports UNB.
The deal was signed between the Ministry of Health and Associates for Development Services Limited (ADSL) Bangladesh, the local partners of Aus-Health International, Australia.
Joint Chief of the Ministry of Health Khodeza Begum and Managing Director of ADSL signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
Adviser for the Ministry of Health ASM Matiur Rahman attended the signing ceremony as the chief guest.
The PSO is core group Technical Assistance (TA) for support and guidance to the implementation and performance monitoring of the HNPSP and coordination of development partners' assistance.
"PSO will work within the existing organisational structure of the Health Ministry and directly under the Secretary of the Ministry," it said.
The key consultants of the PSO team are health-sector development specialist and team leader Muhammad Abdus Sabur, public health-sector specialist Abu Mohammad Zakir Hussain, procurement specialist Mohammad Ali, financial management and audit specialist Anisuz Zaman Chowdhury, health economist Azaher Ali Molla and gender-equity specialist Shahana Begum.
Among others, Secretary to the Ministry of Health AKM Zafarullah Khan, Additional Secretary Jamil Osman, Director General of Health Services M Shahjahan Biswas and representatives of HNPSP-related development partners in the country were also present on the occasion.
