Contributions of Ajit Roy and Shaheen Samad recalled

A reception has been accorded to two noted singers of the country Ajit Roy and Shaheen Samad recalling their invaluable contributions to the cultural field, reports BSS.
Katha Lalitakala Academy, a cultural institute for the children in the city, organised the reception marking its 14th founding anniversary at the auditorium of Bangladesh Shishu Academy in the city Saturday.
Senior journalist, columnist, and Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury attended the function as the chief guest with Chairman of the Academy and senior journalist Sayed Shahjahan in the chair.
While handing over crests to the country's two leading artistes, Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury most respectfully recalled their long careers in music and hoped that both of them would continue their contributions to the cultural arena of Bangladesh.
He urged the students of the Academy to devote themselves more in the cultural activities for learning the country's culture, tradition and history.
Syed Shahjahan urged the government to provide the Academy with a piece of land for enabling the institute to contribute more to the country's cultural field.
A total 82 students of the Academy received crests for their outstanding performances in various disciplines.
The function was rounded off with a colourful cultural function. The students of the Academy rendered songs.
Former additional secretary MA Jalil, AKM Badruddoza, AKM Mizanur Rahman, FCA, and Managing Director of Four Seasons International School Sayed Mahmudur Rahman were present as special guests.
