CUMILLA, Oct 10 (UNB): A couple was found dead at their house at Salepur village in Laksam upazila of the district on Wednesday.
Police recovered the hanging body of Shafiullah (40), son of Hedayetullah, and the throat-slit body of his wife Rabeya Khatun (28) in the morning.
Ariful Islam, a member of Kandirpar union parishad, said the couple used to lock in brawl over family matters.
Shafiullah might have slaughtered his wife and then committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of the house, he said.
Being informed by locals, police recovered the bodies from a room which was locked from inside and sent those to Cumilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Manoj Kumar Dey, officer-in-charge of Laksam thana.
