Counter-based Ctg bus services lack standard

CHITTAGONG, June 11: The so-called counter-based bus services in Chittagong city just worsened the sufferings of passengers in absence of an adequate number of specific counters.

Despite launching counter-based bus service, adequate passenger sheds have not been constructed leaving the passengers to suffer most. Particularly the old and female passengers are the worst sufferers, sources said.

Adequate counters were supposed to be set up at different points in the port city enabling the passengers to collect tickets maintaining discipline. But in practice, no specific counters were set up and the passengers are now compelled to procure tickets from ticket sellers, who are doing the job sitting under umbrellas on the roads.

Moreover, the passengers availing these so-called counter-based bus services are forced to pay extra money for buying tickets, though no announcement has so far been made by the concerned authority about enhancing the price of tickets, according to the sources.
