Country likely to be free from floods by this week

With all the rivers, including the Brahmaputra-Jamuna, Ganges-Padma, continued to fall, the country is expected to be free from floods by this week, Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) said in its latest observation report Tuesday, reports BSS.
Most of the rivers in the Brahmaputra, the Ganges, the Meghna and the southeastern hill basins have marked fall.
The FFWC said that according to its 69 river monitoring stations rivers at six stations are flowing above danger level, four marked rise, 54 fell, two remained steady and three not reported.
The flood situation in the south-central part of the country, including the districts of Rajbari, Faridpur, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Gopalganj and Chandpur and the upazilas of Nawabganj and Dohar of Dhaka district is likely to improve further and will continue in the next 24-72 hours.
All small rivers around Dhaka district are also receding and will maintain the trend in the next 24-72 hours.
