Couple, teacher’s wife, son killed in road crashes in two dists

At least four people were killed in separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Pabna districts on Friday, report agencies.

In Mymensingh, a man and his wife died after their motorcycle collided with an electric pole in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh on Friday.

The accident happened around 8:00 am on Friday in the Lakshmipur Bazar area of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Saidur Rahman (28), of the Roumari area of the upazila, and his wife Sonia Akhter (22).

Haluaghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbubul Haque confirmed the matter.

The couple was riding a motorcycle from Ishwarganj to their home in Roumari for the Eid holidays. On the way, while going to the Lakshmipur Bazar area on the Haluaghat border road, the motorcycle lost control and hit an electric pole, killing Saidur Rahman on the spot, said the OC.

In Pabna, the wife and minor son of a teacher of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) were killed in a road crash in Naogaon's Manda upazila on Thursday.

Teacher Firoz Ali and his seven-year-old daughter also sustained injuries in the crash. He is an assistant professor of the university's Electrical and Electronic Engineering department.

The dead are Reshma Begum (32), and her eight-month-old son Farabi.
