Craft artist Symon Imran Hyder on Saturday attempted a Guinness World Record (GWR) by making the largest Bangladesh national flag with red and green envelope, marking the golden jubilee of the country's independence.

The attempt of GWR in making 'Largest Envelope Mosaic (flag)', organised at the hotel InterContinental Dhaka, was made upon the approval from the Guinness authorities.

The event entitled 'Durnibar Bangladesh' was arranged with the assistance of a volunteer group known as 'Agroho'.

In order to make the challenge possible, around 16,000 envelopes were required to make the flag measuring 240 square meter size.

Mr Hyder himself made all the envelopes in the last few years while his handmade envelopes are also commercially available.

It took more five hours to make the 20 metre in length and 12 metre wide envelope-made national flag.

Dedicating the work to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Mr Hyder said the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is his biggest inspiration for any positive works and creations.

He also mentioned that he is working on a few other projects which will also highlight Bangladesh's name in the global arena.

To get the official name enlistment, declaration-certification all the evidence and documents were already submitted to the Guinness authority.
