CHITTAGONG, June 24: Sufferings of city dwellers due to prolonged power and water shortage, have surpassed all previous magnitude. Moreover, all the dirt and garbage left over by inundation caused by the recent heavy downpour and stockpiled on the different roads and culverts at markets and residential areas in the port city have intensified the situation and no positive action is yet in sight to save the city dwellers from the plight.
Extent of load shedding and power failure are on the rise and sufferings caused to the city dwellers know no bounds besides hampering commercial activities and industrial production.
Crisis in power sector has also hard hit water drilling task of Chittagong WASA. Normal water supply is being hampered in many areas in the city due to this.
Meanwhile, condition of most of the city roads have become very deplorable following recent natural disaster. Uncounted number of holes and cracks have developed on the big roads as well as lanes and bylanes causing road accidents, loss of lives and properties. But no visible initiative of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) to improve the situation is yet in sight.
